The individuals apprehended in connection with the Parliament security breach on December 13 have disclosed that they considered drastic actions such as self-immolation and the distribution of pamphlets before settling on their plan to infiltrate the Lok Sabha chamber with smoke canisters, according to officials from the Delhi Police. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police, currently investigating the case, intends to record the statement of BJP MP Pratap Simha, who authorized the visitor passes for the two individuals responsible for breaching security.
Sagar Sharma and D. Manoranjan, the two men who entered the Lok Sabha chamber, revealed that they initially contemplated self-immolation by covering themselves with fireproof gel but abandoned the idea. Another option under consideration was the distribution of pamphlets inside the Parliament. Ultimately, they executed their plan by jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi released colored smoke outside the Parliament premises, while Lalit Jha circulated videos of the protest on social media.
The Delhi Police's Counter Intelligence team, part of the Special Cell, plans to record the statement of BJP MP Pratap Simha, who played a role in authorizing the visitor passes for the accused. The police took the accused to various locations on December 15, where they had met and conspired. Authorities may seek permission from Parliament to recreate the breach incident, which occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks.
Investigations have not ruled out Mahesh Kumwat and Kailash, who allegedly aided Jha's escape. Lalit Jha will be taken to Nagaur in Rajasthan, where he stayed after fleeing, to investigate claims of destroying mobile phones. All five accused individuals have been remanded to seven days of police custody.
